Teresa is a partner at BakerHostetler, an AmLaw 100 firm with 17 offices from New York to Los Angeles and Seattle to Orlando. She co-leader of BakerHostetler’s Blockchain Team and specializes in a wide range of securities, litigation, investigations, and corporate matters. She has extensive experience representing companies and individuals in SEC and other government investigations and enforcement actions, litigation involving corporate and shareholder disputes, and conducting independent investigations for corporate boards. Teresa has been selected by the SEC to serve as one of eight fair fund administrators for Fair Funds. She has served as counsel to federal equity receivers and a SIPC trustee. She is a former litigation counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in its Office of the General Counsel. A seasoned advocate, Teresa represents a range of clients, including public and private companies, financial institutions, investment managers, boards of directors, and corporate officers, in complex financial, disclosure, and corporate governance matters. As a certified fraud examiner and holding an MBA, she brings her financial knowledge and business acumen to investigations and defense strategies, as well as to her corporate practice. Combining deep legal and business expertise, she excels in navigating the complexities of receiverships, effectively addressing legal and business challenges while seamlessly integrating solutions where both intersect. Clients often call on her combined business and legal background, along with her astute judgment and solutions-oriented, pragmatic approach. Her practice spans securities, compliance, and corporate governance, and includes emerging fields such as blockchain, crypto, digital assets, NFTs, DAOs, Web 3.0, AI, DeFi platforms, ATSs, and MSBs. Teresa advises clients on capital raises under Regs S, D, A+, and CF and provides guidance on the application of securities laws, commodities laws, and BSA regulations in the rapidly evolving digital asset space. Teresa is nationally recognized as a leader in crypto and securities enforcement. She is ranked by Chambers for Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies and named to the Securities Docket’s SEC “Enforcement Elite.” She is also recognized by The Legal 500 for Dispute Resolution and Corporate Investigations and was honored as Litigator of the Week by The AmLaw Litigation Daily in July 2024.
